NorhTec's UltraClient allow computing to be deployed in new ways and in new locations. All NorhTec products are built on industrial grade motherboards and use only grade A components. NorhTec pioneered passive cooling for computers. While most computers use fans to circulate air between the outside the case and inside the case, NorhTec seals our computers and uses the entire case as a giant heatsink to cool the electronic components.  

NorhTec computers operate 10C to 20C cooler than traditional computers. This expands the length of service three ways. First, it eliminates one of the most likely points of failure in a computer, the fan. Secondly, the heat sink does a better job of cooling down the components and thirdly, by sealing the computer, we protect the components from dust, dirt, moisture and chemicals.

NorhTec has never set out to replace the desktop with smaller PCs. NorhTec's focus is to build computers that are small, reliable and energy efficient that can be used to deploy applications in locations not possible with traditional desktop computers. None-the-less, many customers have wanted to use our systems for desktops, multimedia PCs and computers for their cars.

Until now, none of our MicroServers or MicroClients had DVD or CDROM devices installed.  The problem for us was that putting a CDROM or DVDROM into the Microserver would raise the power requirement and would make the case larger.

We then decided to design two cases. We offer a smaller case with no CDROM expansion for customers who are deploying applications on hard drives or solid state drives. We then offer a longer case for customers needing CDROM or DVDROM.

The design of the UltraClient provides the highest efficiency cooling. NorhTec uses aluminum for the United States due to insure the highest quality cooling.  NorhTec puts the drive devices on the bottom of the case, using the motherboard as an insulation barrier and the CPU on the top so that the heat rises out of the top but leaves the CDROM  and hard disk 20C cooler than the CPU.

The top and bottom of the UltraClient are both curved. This creates an air barrier over the top and bottom of the case as well as provides more surface area for faster cooling.

The UltraClient is an ideal solution for dispatching in locations where deskspace is a premium. It is also ideal for schools, particularly for diskless booting. NorhTec's UltraClient is powerful enough to support existing desktop applications and operating systems.

NorhTec UltraClients are the ideal solution for multimedia advertising or promotional billboards. The UltraClient has enough CPU power to decode virtually any video stream and provides integrated support for hardware MPEG-2 decoding. It is possible to set up servers in remote locations and feed the displays directly to CRTs, LCDs, plasma screens or projectors, using a UltraClient. NorhTec offers wireless thin client support, making it much less costly to install in existing infrastructures.

The UltraClient is everything you need to create your own custom computer solution. The UltraClient can be configured as a kiosk or POS. Virtually any existing x86 solution can be deployed on the MicroClient.
