The Silent Server is very similar to the Panda PC. The major difference is that it is designed to work with traditional 3.5 inch hard disks and larger CD/DVD drives. The Silent Server can accept different boards using the 17cm x 17cm form factor, allowing us to create a variety of special products based on the customer's requirements and budget.

As with the Panda, it is quiet, powerful and inexpensive computer. It has a very small footprint and you can put it in places where you would not put a normal PC, like your Audio/Video Rack.

The Silent Server is designed to work with our own fanless AC only power supply or it can work with existing flex ATX power supplies for boards that require more power. The Silent Server is made using the same factory that builds the cases for many high-end audio products such as Adcom, nOrh Loudspeaker, California Audio Labs, Marsh and others. Our cases are superior to the stamped out metal and plastic cases that most computers use. Our cases are stronger, better looking and more durable.

Available Options:

NorhTec offers a variety of configurations to suit most computing requirements. NorhTec offers both the Silent Server and MultiClient with solutions feature CPUs from AMD, Intel and VIA. Configurations are available specifically designed for network servers, multimedia and desktop applications. Fanless systems are available up to 1.2 Ghz and systems with quiet CPU fans are available up to 1.6Ghz. This unit already has an ethernet port, and an optical drive depending on your choice (shown below). If you require a second optical drive or a second ethernet, you may choose from the Additional Accessories.

Silent Server with a Slimline DVD drive

The Silent Server is available in two versions - one with regular, full size optical drives, and the other with Slimline optical drives. The casing color is different. We have 3 options for the Silent Server with 1.5 Ghz CPU.

A Silent Server derivative, The Digital Filing Cabinet (DFC) is also available. You can read more about it here. The DFC can be configured using software or hardware RAID. Pure-software RAID offers the cheapest possible solution: not only are expensive disk controller cards or hot-swap chassis not required, but software RAID works with cheaper IDE disks as well as SCSI disks.
